Foreclosures and the Neighborhood Housing Markets

Given the primary "rule" of the real estate market is "location, location, location" many people point to the potential downward spiral in housing prices caused by an increase in the number of foreclosed homes. This presentation is from the "Business Over Easy" series and will focus on the means by which foreclosed or distressed sales may impact the value of adjacent and nearby property. Dr. Groves received his Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis in 2005, and currently teaches Public Finance Economics at NIU. His primary research interest is on the economics of local communities and housing with emphasis on how public policy affects the housing sector and local government.
